Where did you grow up?

I was born and raised in Blue Springs, Missouri.

Where did you go to school?

I graduated from Blue Springs High School.  Received BSBA in Finance and Economics from Rockhurst University.  I have a Masters degree in Biblical Counseling from Trinity Theological Seminary.  I am also a graduate from the Shepherd School of Ministry at Kansas City Baptist Temple.

Talk about your family.

My beautiful wife, Kerrie, and I met in college at Rockhurst – she loved me at first sight!  We were married shortly after graduation in 1990.  After living in New Jersey for 18 years we recently moved back to the Midwest and currently reside in Lee’s Summit.  We have two adult children, Drew and Abby, who live in Lee’s Summit.

When did you become a Christian?

I was raised in the Lutheran church and knew a lot of facts about God and Jesus but did not know Him personally.  After going through some difficult times in college, I began a prolonged search for life’s meaning and eventually became a Christian in August of 1988.  Jesus was no longer a historical figure but my personal Lord and Savior.  My life hasn’t been the same since.

In a sentence or two describe your primary responsibilities at Grace?

I am the senior pastor at Grace and handle most of the preaching ministry at the church.  In addition, I also participate in the praise and worship ministry at Grace.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might…” Solomon

What is your favorite passage in the Bible?

Romans 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

What is your favorite book besides the Bible?

Fiction: “The Hobbit”.  Read it in 8th grade and it caused me to fall in love with reading.

Non-Fiction: “Radical” by David Platt.  “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan. “The Life You’ve Always Wanted” by John Ortberg.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spend time with my beautiful wife and family.  Read. Play golf. Watch movies. Workout.  Work in my yard.

What is your favorite movie?

Two Towers – the second movie in “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy.  The biblical undertones in that movie are classic.
